There’s a little game in the mobile Chrome browser on the “you are offline” page. The little dino shows up, and if you tap him it turns into a side scrolling game where you make him jump over cacti.

My 2 year old discovered this. My phone isn’t cool enough for kids mode, so I just put it in airplane mode so he can’t call people and buy games and such. He clicked an ad in one of his games, as he often does, and ended up making the dino jump. So there’s your time waster if you ever find yourself bored and without data.

It is available on PC as well. Learned about it a few months ago when my internet was crapping itself.

Yeah, I heard about it when it was in beta for Chrome on Android and played it when it came to the full version - it’s amusing, though I don’t like how the accompanying audio will still play when the phone is set to vibrate.

I’ve seen it done on PC as well, though I didn’t know how to trigger it earlier today when my internet went out (I’ve figured it out now). I noticed that the dino seems to blink occasionally outside of the game, too.

Huh, I didn’t have any audio while I was playing.

The Android version has a few beeps and boops to go along with the pixel art aesthetic.

Aaand now I’m playing with my phone and giggling like an idiot in the laundrette parking lot. Thanks

Hit spacebar on PC and it will start. Took me a while to figure out but I found it out last night and had hella fun while WiFi was cutting in and out.

Yeah, I googled it before I made that last comment (hence why I said that I figured it out LOL). I can just yank out the Ethernet cable on my Macbook Pro while it’s running Windows 10 to access the game, since my MBP can’t connect to Wi-Fi on Windows 10.

It’s also there in the desktop Chrome browser. If you’re bored of that game, also go to Settings > About Phone and tap Android Version a few times quickly. If you have 5.0 or up there will be a game. If not there will be something else.

Turn down your media volume, it’s separate from the ringtone volume
